upgrading firefox to 3.6

Asked by rbh

I'm a fairly new Ubuntu user since then I have wanted to upgrade firefox at different times. Without really knowing what I'm doing I've tried different things. I'm at the point now where I'm confused. In my application list it says I have Namoroka web browser and when I look at the about info in firefox it says the version is 3.5.5. I've tried different things like adding ppas for daily builds, using ubuntuzilla and others. At ontime I tried to update from firefox and it downloaded 3.5.7 and said to restart but every time I thought I was restarting the update never seemed to take. So any way as I said I'm confused and need simple instructions if any one can help. I wouldn't mind un installing and starting over but I can't seem to do that. When I do un install and reinstall its the same as before.
Hope someone can help
Thanks rbh

I'm have 9.10 Karmic
When I Click the about box and it says firefox and not Namorka it now says 3.6.
The two intresting issues is There is a menu option that says apply downloaded update and it says 3.5.7. Also I,m using docky and when I create a launcher it says Mozilla build of firefox and the the icon that appears when the browser is open says Namoroka Web browser and has a blue planet.
Thanks rbh

what i have found is that 3.5 will let you use more add on`s ,, 3.6 uses more cpu with less add on`s .. so the 3.5.7 is the download you did; ; at this point you need to choose which one you want ..
