and add on locked up ubuntu firefox 3 had io unstall it,have firefox 2 now,have downloaded firefox 3.6 it is on my desktop in a package,how do i install it ????????? i need help thanks.

To install the latest version of Firefox in your repos (3 for Jaunty, 3.5 for Karmic and onwards), run this command:

sudo apt-get install firefox

If you wish to have a more recent release that is updated daily from either the 3, 3.5, 3.6 or 3.7 branches, visit:

https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-daily/+archive/ppa

you should download swiftfox, it is just a modified version of 3.6 for linux.

install the deb files. will install easily with package installer.

to install Firefox 3.6 for Karmic, type the following command

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

sudo apt-get install firefox-3.6 firefox-3.6-branding
