cannot watch movies online

I get the message below on firefox - 'Unable to find the video player (check Tools menu, MediaPlayerConnectivity...)' and also 'Error! LAVF_header: av_open_input_stream() failed' usr/bin/X11/gmplayer.

sudo apt-get install mozilla-mplayer

then restart firefox

Should be ok.

Still cannot stream divx nor flash from any movie web site.

Have you tried installing: ubuntu-restricted-extras

It will install a few things including flash-plugin

My problems started with Firefox MediaPlayerConnectivity! I was trying to play DIVX web-streamed movies using Totem/Xine/gmplayer etc.

I have the Ubuntu-restricted extras installed and I could watch flash etc except for Divx. Nothing works now!
