Firefox English, Dutch Version to old?

Asked by Rob Frerejean

I have two problems. Here is what I have.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3pre) Gecko/20090814 Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Shiretoko/3.5.3pre

I use a Dutch system and after automatic update to this version of Firefox, it´s in English. Firefox I mean.

Second, I want to install the Google toolbar again, because I use it, but that installation is telling me that my version of Firefox is to old. Huh???????

I can download the Dutch version of Firefox, but after installation the automatic update is updating it again and changing it back to English. I even did reinstall Ubuntu once to see if it would help.

Help with this would be great.

In this case you should use Firefox version from mozilla-europe.org.
Here is a link for your language and OS: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.5.2&os=linux&lang=nl
Download an archive and unpack it to /home/[your username]/firefox and start it like this: /home/[your username]/firefox/firefox. To make it more comfortable, you can make a launch button on your desktop. Icons are locaterd in /home/[your username]/firefox/icons

Don't forget to reconfigure firefox and reinstall all the extensions and themes you want to have. This version of Firefox is not updated through repositories and is not "connected" with Ubuntu.

Actually no need to install FF from Mozilla.
Only install language pack, open .xpi with firefox, that should be it.

Nederlands (NL) Language Pack 3.5 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Shiretoko 3.5.3pre.

That´s the message after installing.

I removed Firefox 3.5 and reinstalled 3.0 again. All is back in my language again. And plug-ins are working again.

Worked with German though; just modify the link to get an overview.
