How to switch between flash plugins in firefox?

Asked by Sergey V. Udaltsov

I have 3 flash engines installed:
-adobe
-gnash
-swfdec

What is the right way to switch between them - both on system level and on user level? I see 3 independent(?) ways:
- using debian alternatives
- using symlinks in /usr/share/ubufox
- enabling/disabling in firefox GUI

On a system level, all 3 can be managed by update-alternatives (using various firefox-flashplugin and other *-flashplugin). But that method does not affect symlinks in /usr/share/ubufox/plugins - they are created for both gnash and swfdec (but not adobe, for some reason)

In the firefox gui, there is a location where I can disable/enable plugins. How does it match currently chosen alternative and/or symlinks in ubufox?

Is there a documentation describing relation between these 3 mechanisms? It is all quite confusing...

In Firefox, go to Tools > Add-ons > and click the Plugins button. There you can enable and disable plugins.

If you don't mind me asking, why do you need 3 different flash plugins?

Can you help with this problem?
