We do not support firefox-2.0* any longer nor does Mozilla. Gutsy is to reach EOLS around the end of this month. In the best interest for eveyone please upgrade Ubuntu to 8.04 or 8.10 and see if you can reproduce it with latest firefox 3.0.8 in our repos, If it still happens remove all your extensions and start with a new profile if removing the extensions don't help. Also for future knowledge please use apport to file crashes

Did you try to start firefox using terminal and check if it gives any errors on the console?
(Run a terminal and write firefox on the terminal press enter key to execute firefox command.)

Can you help with this problem?
