Did you check the Canon website for drivers for Ubuntu / Linux?

If you know the password of an account in the 'sudo' group then you can use the below command:

su name

Obviously, change 'name' to the user name and you will then be asked for the password of the user. You can then run updates using:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

If you add your user to the sudo group using this same protocol, running as 'name' then you can log off and on and perform administrative tasks.

If you don't have the credential then you will need to get your system administrator to set you up. You will need this access to install the printer software if it exists.

Can you help with this problem?
