where does Firefox (under Linux) store forms data

Asked by desperado

Hi all,

I have activated the Prefernces option 'remember what I entered in forms and the search bar'. Unfortunately I hav a typo in oen of my forms that needs to be corrected. But I would like to avoid clearing all of my private data. Is there any file that firefox uses to store forms data? The plan is to edit this file to correct the typo..

Any idea?
Thnx in advance.

Thanks for the question.

In you home folder should be a directory .mozilla (this is hidden so you won't see it if you don't enable it, or use ls -a from the command line). From there you go into firefox. In this folder is another folder starting with a random string ending with .default. Inside this is a file called formhistory.dat. I believe that is the file you are looking for.

I hope this helps
