Hey,
If you are trying to configure the drive for a new install, let the installer do all the work and then follow the link below to learn how to use Gparted to do what you want

first of all its ubuntu and not ubantu.
secondly make it clear what are you trying to do?
whether you are installing ubuntu or you have already installed ubuntu and trying to make 2 partitions

if you are installing ubuntu then you need atleast 2 partitions. one for ubuntu and its related data and other partition which you cannot use but the pc will use as additional ram.
it should be double then your ram if ram is less than 1gb.
otherwise, it can be 1gb also. this partition iscalled swap. it will be used as ram. and will increase the speed of your pc.
swap is good for you.
ideal swap is 2gb if you dont want the pc to hang.

if you want windows also then make 3 partitions initially- one for windows, one for ubuntu and one for swap.

be carefull in installing ubuntu otherwise all your windows data can erase.
so choose the manual partition option in the installation process.

Can you help with this problem?
