Firefox says it is already running and I must close or restart computer
After closing Firefox 3 and returning to it, it says Firefox is already running and I must close or restart my computer. I am new to Ubuntu and don't know what to do. Please help. Thanks Don

Hi yebos,
Try this.. Choose System Monitor
System -> Administration -> System Monitor
Then choose Processes, then look for firefox. After you find firefox, just click it, then choose End Process.
Hopefully that will works...

This is caused by:
1. a poor port of Firefox to Linux;
2. a poor testing of FF installed from repository packages
To have FF running without this and many other problems it must be executed into userspace. That means that FF cannot be installed from the Ubuntu packages to have it working without stress!
Look at my answer #47068.
The error is to have prepared packages that install FF in "administrative" mode. In this way FF doesn't work correctly, full-stop.
The same can be applied to TBird.
