Best banner blocker

I've tried several methods/pgms to block Firefox from displaying banner ads...unsuccessfully.
Can someone point me to a solution?

I'm using NoScript (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/722/) and I didn't see banners in ages, among other possible problems.

normally install. Mission accomplished.
