what is the name of Firefox bookmarks file

Asked by Henry

Have firefox 3B5 on Ubuntu 8.04. Imported bookmarks successfully from several different incarnations of windows XP, NT, 98, etc. Firefox has found them and I can access all of them. But they are not sorted (alphabetically by name). So I've downloaded and installed firesort.

I need to know the name of the file that Firefox uses to store all these bookmarks. Is it "bookmarks.html"?

Thanks in advance,
Henry

Is it "bookmarks.html"?

---> Yes, it is. Bookmarks are placed in folder .mozilla (hidden folder in your home directory, to see it press Ctrl+H or View→Show Hidden Files) → firefox → "something".default → bookmarks.html

Thanks. I found it finally, and now I have sorted bookmarks. Of a sort. If I click on Bookmarks in firefox, I have to choose the "bookmarks toolbar" which gives me 2 choices, "smart bookmarks" or "sorted bookmarks". If I pick the latter, I get perfectly sorted categories, which is what I wanted.

Thanks all.
