I uninstalled Firefox 3 for firefox 2

Asked by Jon N.

When I installed Firefox 2, I tried to get themes for it, and it gave me an error message that says:

Firefox could not install the file at

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/file/22458/ifox_smooth-2.5.1-fx-jar
because: Unexpected installation error
Review the error Console Log for more details.

What should happen: I should have just had the theme install into Firefox.

What happened: I pressed install, it acted like it installed, then gave the above error message. This happens to all themes that I try to install.

I have had same problem, I've solved this by deleting .mozilla folder (hidden folder in your home folder, to see it press Ctrl+H or View→Show Hidden Files). Warning -- You will loose all your firefox "data" -- bookmarks (you can export and save them), passwords, history etc.

SOLVED! Thanks Vojtech. YOU ROCK! This did the trick. Also, I had to make sure that all instances of Firefox were closed before doing this action. I found out that the .mozilla folder RETURNS if you do not have all of the browser windows that were open, closed before doing this. This is why I use open source. Answers and solutions in hours, NOT days, and I didn't have to pay a dime for it.
