"However, some users have found that the RealPlayer plug-in, which is used by the BBC iPlayer, may or may not function fully depending on a combination of what flavour of Unix/Linux you are using, which browser you are using, which version of browser you are using, and which version of GCC built the plug-in during installation. You may find that you are only able to listen by following the “Listen using stand-alone RealPlayer” links within the BBC iPlayer."

RealPlayer plug-in for Firefox may not work in Linux. Try to install RealPlayer the way it's described at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/help/faq/linux_and_unix_compatibility.shtml
