The best way to run windows applications on linux is to find its linux counterpart. That is, it being the same application but compiled for linux, or an application that does the exact same thing (or similar features). Running EXEs on linux should be considered one of the last alternatives.

The best way to install applications on ubuntu is using the repositories via the "Synaptic Package Manager" or clicking Add/Remove on the applications menu. Think of it as a "Windows update" that includes most of the applicaions you will ever need. 2nd best option is to find .deb packages for ubuntu (or debian)

This guide should get you started installing flash:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/Flash

Winamp is a WINdows application (hence the name) but you can find a similar application. Read about XMMS here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/XMMS

If you still want to run windows .exe on linux, read about WINE:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wine

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

sudo apt-get flashplugin-nonfree

sudo apt-get clean all

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

If you have some trouble with sound you can also install the libflashsupport
then open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libflashsupport

Hope this helps
