Firefox attempts to open and freezes computer

Asked by Tom Henderson

Firefox almost completely opens and I get the unresponsive script warning box. Mouse no longer moves. Even if I clopse everything with alt-F4 still the mouse is frozen. I have never been able to get on the internet because of this. (New install Ubuntu 14.04 with minimal CD and ethernet)

Also, the bootup is very very slow. It took 7 hours to install this so I would rather fix it than try again to install.

Have you tried renaming the config folder for Firefox in ~/.mozilla then run the bowser. Is it better?

Turns out the Ubuntu install is working just fine and the internal fan on the laptop has all the blades broken off. It was simply overheating and freezing up. Thanks for all your help.
