How do I get back to the defaul Firefox and regain settings.

I listen to the DeKalb Fire calls because a Grandson is a fireman. I did get them in RealPlayer10. Now Mplayer shows up in Firefox. I clicked on Mplayer and then Configure and my monitor when blank. I rebboted several times and then get a window "cannot open Firefox because it is already open. There is an option to create a new profile in Firefox. I foollishly did that and now have lost my bookmarks and settings. I am using Version 1.0.7. Can you please help me. I also am using kubuntu. I would like to use either Mplayer or RealPlayer but need to regain my bookmarks. Thank You.

At this time Firefox will not open and I cannot get to the WWW. i receive an
"Alert--The file /usr/share/ubuntu-artwork/home/index.html cannot be found.
Please check the location and try again".----At that location I have a
home/ubuntu-index.html---I tied to remane it or save index.html as
ubuntu-index.html but it did not save or rename. What do you advise. After cancelling the Alerts Firefox has opened.

I have regained my bookmarks and settings. I also installed Mozilla as a browser. I still am unable to open MPlayer or RealPlayer in the fireman/ems site. MPlayer opens a new page with the IP address and then says "stopped"
