ubuntu 12.4 crashes

I have a fresh install of ubuntu 12.4. I installed vlc and firestarter and thats about it. I did all the updates. often when i minimize firefox or open the terminal ubuntu crashes and takes me to loggin screen. what is going on?

Try to remove firestarter and see if problem solved.
Is not needed.
Ubuntu has strong security .. (apparmor pre-installed .. etc)
