Firefox very slow until cleared cache

Asked by John Rose

I was browsing Amazon website using Firefox. It took 1 minute + to do a search in the site. I cleared the cache and it was fine. I have not changed the original cache setting, which is automatic. I noticed that the 'currently using' is 350MB & that 'limit cache to' is grayed out as 350MB. This seems like a bug to me. What do others think?

I assume that moving the cache to RAM would mean that its contents would be lost on powering oof the PC. So not much use to me.

Yes , thats correct. Would be lost.

But have you saw the contents ? I mean you can change the size of hard disk cache from there if you want..

about:config ... etc

see the contents and change the size of cache from there.

Thanks

I already changed the size of the cache using Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Network, checking 'Override automatic cache management', changing 'Limit cache to' to 1000MB & clearing 'Override automatic cache management'. I've checked it using about:config etc.

Anyway, I still think that there's a bug in Firefox when 'currently using' reaches 'limit cache to', resulting in long wait times. I'll report it this evening if no-one comes up with more relevant info on the matter.

Can you help with this problem?
