how to scan document on Printer scanner and how to send to e-mail

Please! Help me with scanning document on printer to e-mail{Hotmail}. I need step by step simple instructions for a Linux user who is not a computer geek{wizard}. Thanks very Much. Barbara

What is the make and model of the scanner?

How does it attached to the system?

What is the output of:
lsb_release -a; uname -a; lsusb
