Firefox 15 freezes after heavy usage of Nautilus in Ubuntu 12.04
Firefox 15.0.1 gets stuck or even goes to full-stop (with warning flashes) after heavy usage of Nautilus 3.4.2 , i.e. by compressing and decompressing large text files and by moving numerous of these large text files to and from different folders. If firefox is opened right after the actions described it will unavoidably freeze. Occationally, this will also affect the performance of other programs.
So far, the only solution I've foud is to restart the system mechanically rather than within the enviorment of the screen since there is no response to the cliking of the mouse.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.1 and -worst of all- I'm just a begginer.
Thanks in advance for all your kind help.

Can you open the Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run the command
dmesg
after the crash? It will print a lot of lines. The first of it is a timecode representing the seconds your system runs. Please copy the last lines that could be realted to the problem, maybe 60s or more back and post them here.
With
dmesg > dmesg.txt
you can create a textfile with the output first and then restart the machine to have a browser.
Also it could be helpful to run the recovery mode (hold Shift while booting) and choose the option to check the file system.

Dear Sirs:
The problem of Firefox freezing after heavy usage of Nautilus happened again, though not as severely as in other occasions. Maybe its important to mention that an update arrived involving ' linux-image-
After the update I started to work again on the pdf text files using Evince and 7zip compressor and involving nearly 800MB which is roughly 10% of available free space for Nautilus.
After closing Nautilus I whent directly to Firefox and it got stuck again. As thkrueger pointed out I'll transcribe the first few lines of dmesg:

Regrettably I forgot to carry out the procedure suggested by actionparship.
Solving this problem will be of much help but, beyond this - and by far of greater importance - is that I can see that there is a real living community backing and supporting Ubuntu. In these days it's a miracle. I fell welcomed. I'm just a beginner but now I'm eager to learn and give back in return. Thanks, thanks a lot you wonderful people.
