How do I delete new or existing downloads?

If you mean the download history try this.

If you mean the files which you've saved locally, open a file manager, select the folder 'Downloads' which may content files and can be moved to trash by right click and selecting the option.
Basically you need to remember the place where you've saved the downloaded files in order to delete.
If you know the title of the file try a search through the dash or in file manager.
