All websites run slow with Ubuntu 12.04 & Firefox. I'd like to know how to speed things up, and how to defrag Ubuntu files.

Asked by David Griffith

I think I need to defrag my Ubuntu system, but it's not like Windows. I don't know how to speed things up, nor how to get rid of useless files. Help!!!!

There is no need to defrag your HD in Ubuntu. If you want to know the details why GNU/Linux doesn't fragment you can take a look at this link: http://geekblog.oneandoneis2.org/index.php/2006/08/17/why_doesn_t_linux_need_defragmenting
If you are making the transition from windows you might need some beginners tutorial as well: http://idilix.net/ubuntu-tutorial
Ubuntu is generally very fast but you can additionnaly install "Preload" from the software center to make it a bit faster (by pre-loading the applications that you use the most).

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask David Griffith for more information if necessary.
