open *.url files in firefox at ubuntu

Hello, I just recently migrated from windows xp. I used *.url files to store not very important bookmarks. At windows these files were perfectely opened with firefox. Unfortunately I was not able to open these files with firefox at ubuntu.
May be someone could help me out.
