firefox 9.0.1: how to make the bookmark folders visible?

Asked by linuxcub on 2012-01-22

Ubuntu Lucid 10.04, Firefox 9.0.1: great performance, a nasty error in Lucid's standard firefox. 3.6.24 corrected, but:

the bookmark folder symbols are invisible! Folder captions are there, but how to make the folder symbols visible?

Cheers,

View -> toolbars -> customize

you can add the things you want...

sorry actionparsnip, question not answered!

I do NOT want to add something to my TOOLBARS! I want this:
If I click on "Bookmarks", I want to see them as they were in previous versions of Firefox, i.e., I want to see Bookmark Folders visible, and not invisible, like now!

linuxcub (smusnmr) said : #3

And this tells me that is an error, and not something to add to a toolbar:

If I do "Bookmark This Page" (<Ctrl>+<D>), then the Menu shows ALL my BOOKMARK FOLDERS, visible!
But the folders are invisible when I just view my bookmarks with "Bookmarks" (<Alt>+<D>)

How could I amend this, please?

If you use Unity shell, the global menu will have the word bookmarks in if you hover over it when Firefox is the active window. Does this happen?

Sorry, what is Unity shell? Is it a terminal? Could you please phrase your question for a "complete shell idot" like me. Thank you!

Unity is the left hand panel holding your running apps. Highlighted by this picture:

I have no left hand panel like you. I can create a new panel, but don't find "running applications" to add.
I have two panels:
One top, showing right now from left to right: Ubuntu icon, then as text: Applications, Places, System, then the following icons: Firefox, Help, TErminal; and to the right of this panel these icons: nm-applet, loudspeaker, Evolution-Envelope, Date and time (in text) , my name (also text), and the lock-screen, logout etc. icon. These icons are always there.

One bottom: Icon "Click here to hide all windos", right now Firefox icon with text "Question #185504: Q..." (this icon appears only after start of Firefox, and disappears after closing F.), and to the right of this panel the 4 workspace icons, and finally the trash can.

If I hover over Bottom Firefox icon, it just tells me what I can read partiallly without hovering (see above)
If I hover over Top Firefox Icon, it just tells me "Firefox Web Browser.."

So, what shall I do?

Folder symbols Firefox 9 are now visible, but but the ordinary sybols are still crooked

Sorry for my English/German mix. Here is the correct text:
These add-ons (tip from ubuntuusers.de) https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/menu-icons-plus/ are almost perfect, but not complete*. Therefore, for the time being, I keep using Firefox 3.6.24

*Folder symbols in Firefox 9 are now visible, but but the ordinary symbols are still crooked

I suggest you report a bug.

Can you help with this problem?
