8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.11.04.3 (firefox)

I was watching a flash-movie, shut down for a nap, on re boot when i activated mozilla...freezes on 100% CPU. I have never had this problem. I have been using 11.04 for 6 months and have never been happier! I recently added thunderbird mail, and 2:2.3.2-7ubuntu1 (p3scan) "transparent POP3-proxy with virus-and spam-scanning.After re boot, same problem..mozilla freezes, re boot after login screen my preferences were changed, re boot removed (p3scan), re boot login....seem's normal but mozilla is still freezing...uninstalled mozilla....reinstalled mozilla....still freezes., needing to go online to post question i installed0.7.0-0ubuntu1 (rekonq) browser. i am watching flash movie while typing this....just not with mozilla.

If you run:

ps -ef | grep -v grep | grep -i fire

Is it running still?

Is it the same if you clear out your web cache?

i have to 'force quit' mozilla upon start up....freezes up..while CPU stays at 100+

If you press CTRL+ALT+F1 does it drop you to CLI?

yes it is still running >> i had to force quit for it to shutdown

i pressed CTRL+ALT+F1 while mozilla freezes....first time for this....seems like another terminal...no help, had to re boot

Yes but you can then kill the process. Have you also tried rebooting and running:

mv ~/.mozilla/firefox ~/.mozilla/firefox_old

Then rerun the browser, is it better?
