A "non-responsive script" message is usually sent from your web browser, and not the operating system itself. It indicates that some web-page javascript, or javascript internal to the web browser is faulty, and has not completed within some acceptable timeframe.

It is impossible for a computer to determine if a given script will complete (for all scripts), so the current solution is to assume that if it is running too long, then someting is wrong.

This is usually associated with a particular website, or extension. I would recommend first (1) seeing if you can narrow it down to a particular page, if not (2) disable your extensions, if you have any installed, if that still fails, install the "noscript" extension for firefox.

If none of the above work, i woud recommend backing up your bookmarks (bookmarks->show all bookmarks->import and backup->backup), then moving your firefox profile (rename the folder .mozilla/firefox to something else) out of the way to force a new firefox profile to be created.

Finally, could you please supply your firefox version (help->about firefox), and your ubuntu version.
