firefox closes when i press the minimize button

hi experts,

i have ubuntu 11.10 unity and firefox 8

1. at the top left hand corner there is minimize button (the minus sign), when i click this button instead of minimizing, the browser simply closes.

2. when i press alt+tab i can rotate between all open windows, but firefox does not show up as an icon in the icon window even though it is open.

i googled for this problem, i did not find anything useful, but i found this page (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/843247) but no solution at the end of the page.

please help, thank you!

Try to reinstall Firefox.

i find that unity is really crappy. firefox may not have shut down.
just move your cursor to the very left and make the launcher appear.
if there is a triangle beside the firefox icon then firefox has not shut down.
just click on firefox again and it'll open up.

firefox did shut down, the white triangle does not appear when i minimize it!

i uninstalled firefox via software centre then reinstalled it, now it works correctly!
problem solved! yay!
