firewall preventing a web site that I wish to visit

I have tried to open a website several times and I get a message that says that my fi9rewall is preventing it from opening

I assume you mean a specific website.

Well, really you need to talk to your administrator, asking them to unblock the website. However, it is possible to bypass them by using tools such as TOR. This has two components, and once done, you should consider installling the firefox plugin "torbutton"

There are two ways to install tor:
Tor + Polipo + torbutton (may not work on latest firefoxs):

using "option two" on the official tor guidelines (they don't trust the ubuntu repositories).
