Trying to download Ubuntu 10.04 to Acer Aspire One

Asked by Lisa Irving

I am trying to download Ubuntu 10.04 to my Acer Aspire One. It has been unsuccessful so far. I am complete novice at installing anything onto this machine. When prompted to 'Open with Xarchiver(default)' or 'Save to disk' , which should I choose?
All help appreciated.

Use the option "Save to Disk". Also make sure you have enough space for this file.

If you are using Windows to download this, you'll also need the program that can put it on a USB drive. You can download this program from: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/

Once you have your program on the USB drive, you can set your bios to allow you to boot from the USB drive first.

If you are running another version of Linux, you would use the "Startup Disk Creator" (under your Administration menus) to load the information in the ISO image to the USB drive.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your help.

Do I still need to load it onto a USB drive or can I downlaod directly onto the Acer Aspire One? It currently runs with Linux Linpus Lite.

On your system, the Acer Aspire One. Then you have to create a bootable usb with the .iso of Ubuntu.

Can you help with this problem?
