How to record a google video

Asked by forero

Dear friends,

Am using Ubuntu Gutsy.

How can I record, for playback off-line, a typical google video.

Typically it'd be a 3 minute length or so

Both Firefox and Opera play them OK in my system.

Thanks for any guidance.

Try this firefox plugin: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3590

There are other plugins if you search for "youtube" on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/

I did have a "cryptic" message on my first try, which boiled to the file-name the plug-in chose to give to the saved file was illegal in Linux (It had some quote marks or something).

As soon as I changed that filename to something simpler, it went right-ahead and saved it in the blink of an eye (for it was already downloaded, I think).
