It's not easy to downgrade an Ubuntu installation without re-installing. The firefox is a new beta version which supposedly works well for most people. It might be easier to uninstall Firefox, then install an older version.

You could also try Chrome as the browser. I've always found it quite good.

Chris.

If you're interested in alternative browsers, you might try Chromium, which is similar to Chrome but is free open source software and is provided in Ubuntu's official software sources and formally supported by the community. (The package is called chromium-browser.)

If you do want help installing an older version of Firefox on your Ubuntu 11.04 system, please let us know.

If you are interested in troubleshooting this problem on your existing (new, badly working) Firefox installation -- which I recommend doing, as a solution might be quickly forthcoming -- then please first try logging in to your Ubuntu system with a different user account (if you only have one user, you can create another one for testing purposes), and see if the problem still occurs when running Firefox as that user. This is an important diagnostic step--I am not actually suggesting that you should generally log in as a separate user for web browsing from the one you use for other tasks.

If you want to try to troubleshoot the problem, please also let us know the system specifications, especially RAM, CPU, and video card, of all the affected systems. If you're not sure how to obtain this information, please let us know, so we can provide details for how to do so.

Can you help with this problem?
