FireFox 5 removal

Asked by David_g

I am using Ubuntu 11.04 and FireFox 5.

FireFox 5 does not correctly open up all the addresses on my local network, but FireFox 3 does.

How do I remove FireFox 5 and reinstall FireFox 3?

I have downloaded FireFox 3 and run it via terminal, but because I have not removed FireFox 5 there are confusing issues.

Thank you,

David.

Hi. Open the Ubuntu Software Center, and search for Firefox.
Then remove it.

Thank you for telling me how to remove Firefox.

How do I install a previous version?

David.

You have to do this:
1. Open a Terminal and run:
sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop

2. Dowenload this file, then paste the content on the previous program:
http://ubuntuone.com/p/1ALN/

But keep attention! At the 118 line you must change 'Exec=firefox %u' with Exec= PATH OF YOUR FIREFOX'

3. Save in gedit and close.

4. Open nautilus in /usr/share/applications and drag and drop the Firefox icon on Unity launcher.

I hope this will help you.

At the 2 passage:
when you change the line 118, you should change only 'firefox' with the path of your firefox.
For example:
my path is = /home/enry/Desktop/firefox/firefox
the line 118 is = Exec=firefox %u

It will be = Exec=/home/enry/Desktop/firefox/firefox %u

Can you help with this problem?
