Yahoo mail can't switch accounts

Asked by Hunter

I have Yahoo mail accounts – I log in and they startup fine and from there I can go to my other accounts. Been doing it for years on Windows and it works. In the Yahoo browser, at the top left a box will open showing me my accounts, and then I can click anyone for access. On a windows op system it works on any browser including Firefox, etc.

On Linux, I’ll sign in on the Yahoo Mail, and my normal email account will open. I’ll go to top left and click on another account – and it doesn’t work, only to reload the ‘normal’ account. When I did this once, a window opened saying something about ‘PARSE FAILED…’, but normally it just reloads my default account.

Any ideas?

It sounds like a bug in yahoo's code. You should send their technical support an email to see if they will fix it. If you can't make this happen all the time, then its usually pretty hard to nail down what is actually causing the problem. For all we know its a random network glitch.

You can try using the "user-agent" addon to modify the apparent operating system you use to trick yahoo's computers into thinking you are running windows -- sometimes the remote computer tries to do tricky stuff with the user-agent, and then gets it wrong when presented with a different user-agent.
