How do I keep google.com/ig as my home page

I installed XUbuntu 10.10 on my system and everything works great except when I change the home page in Firefox from Ubuntu Google to http://www.google.com/ig. It loads ok but when I get out of firefox then go back in it goes back to Ubuntu Google.
In Windows XP you can go to Tools/options/save as home page. or something like that . In Ubuntus tools I do not see anywhere you can keep the home page you want. How do you do it?
