Does this happen when you run Firefox while logged in with a different user account? (If you don't have any other user accounts, you can create one to test this.)

In that case, you should be able to solve the problem by clearing out your Firefox profile. Please note that this will get rid of your bookmarks, cache, saved cookies, saved passwords, and changes you have made to your configuration. You might want to back up your bookmarks first.

Please note, also, that this method will also get rid of user-specific data from other Mozilla programs, such as Thunderbird and Seamonkey.

This method will make a backup of your entire profile, in case you want to restore the whole thing. (But if you need specific data from it, like your bookmarks, you should back that up separately, not just for increased assurance, but also because individual elements of the backed up profile may not be easily locatable or accessible without restoring the whole profile.)

While logged in as the user who is affected by the problem (*not* as the new user account), open a Terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run this command, by pasting it into the Terminal and pressing enter:

mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.old

You should quit all Firefox web browser windows before running that command (you can paste it into the Terminal, then quit Firefox, then run it).

If the command does not produce any output, then it succeeded. If it does produce output, then please select all the text in the Terminal, copy it to the clipboard, and paste it here.

Then go back into Firefox and see if the problem is fixed. If so, then you can mark this question as Solved. If not, please post a reply here, and we'll keep working on the problem.

Can you help with this problem?
