Make Firefox my home page

Asked by David Hogan

Every time that I click on Firefox web browser to start the Internet I get the Ubuntu Startup Page with the Google search box. I want to start in the Firefox home page. I have tried the things like start up preferences and wicd Internet Manager but to no avail. How can I join the net with Firefox home page?

Open Firefox, go to menu Edit-Preferences and then click the 'General' tab. In the 'Home Page' text box type www.firefox.com (or any page you want) and then close and restart ff.

I can't open Firefox. That's exactly what I'm trying to do.

David,

The ubuntu start page with the google search box opens in firefox, does it not? If so, that *is* firefox.

Perhaps you could attach a screenshot of the ubuntu start page you get when you click the firefox icon.

Thanks Paul. You're quite right. I was in Firefox all the time. When I halved the the screen to make sure I got the right screenshot for you, the display showed all the tool bars at the top of the screen. It showed clearly that it was Firefox. It is a fault with Ubuntu. When their start page is in full screen there are no tool bars shown.
