firefox connects to facebook, for certain websites..

Asked by sireesha inturi

When i try to view some websites, firefox connects to facebook, and shows " connecting to facebook.com". and the website never loads. freshersworld.com, jntuworld.com and others too. when i open the links through google search, it's the same. It is nerve wracking, because those are the sites that i need. can some one point out what is the problem?

It's only some websites?

Can you confirm this with another computer or another operating system on the same network?

It seems like you're Internet access is restricted by the administration of your company/school/ISP.

You could either:

1. Use a proxy to access those sites that you need.

2. Contact your network provider about your Internet issues.

First, find out if it's a system-wide problem:
In the Terminal, input the following command:
ping facebook.com

If it appears to be pinging, something went wrong in the configuration of Firefox.

In Firefox Preferences

(Disregard my above post; it was an unintentional submission)

First, find out if it's a system-wide problem:
In the Terminal, input the following command:
ping facebook.com

If it appears to be pinging, something could have gone wrong in the configuration of Firefox.
1. In Firefox Preferences, go to: Advanced >> Network >> Connection >> Settings...
2. Disable the proxy. Use your best judgment for what's right for you.

Check the GNOME proxy configuration too. Open "Network Proxy". (Classic Desktop: System >> Preferences >> Network Proxy ; Unity: Search "Network Proxy" in the dash)
Configure it to your best judgment, probably a direct Internet connection.

If the ping was not successful... I don't know.
