cannot open zip files after download

Asked by sandra mclean

Hello,
I'm trying to download some zip files from a website,
they're using a system called SCORM (?)
but my ubuntu seems to download the file ok, biut it looks like there's 0 bytes of information,
and the archive manager keeps reporting unable to open the files
can anyone help please??
Do i need to download special software for zip files??
I don't know what to do with zip files once they've downloaded too,
so i end up with a 'box' (zipfiles) on my desktop that I have no idea what to do with them??
how do i unpack them into useable readable files??
thanks

sandra

Hello,
thanks for such a prompt response, however i've revisited the site and think it's an issue with the site
not just zip files
thanks

The OS can handle zip files out of the box. You can also install a few packages and manage nearly any copressed acrhive, even ace and so forth.

The app is also for windows which would involve wine, not very elegant

Can you help with this problem?
