youtube videos can`t download

Hi friends,
I am using Ubuntu10.10
& i can`t download videos from youtube.com directly
I have watched many videos on youtube about this and i think the most easy way to it
is to complete buffering & do copy from /tmp, then paste to desktop.
I tried it many times but no file is appeard in /tmp folder.
I searched in other folders too but i can`t find.
Is there any command or path or any other thing to do it ?
Please tell me.

Hi,

I used to do like you in the past (going to /tmp to locate the downloaded flash video file) but it is not possible now as the file does not appear in /tmp anymore.

Instead I installed an extension for Firefox which name is Video Downloadhelper:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/

It does the job.

I was facing the same problem, then I have downloaded the Video Downloadhelper addon for firefox and it solved my problem.

Thanks friends,
This solved my problem but i will tell you the truth now,
I am continuously using Ubuntu10.10 from starting and
I have downloaded videos lots of time from any website not only from youtube
using the method of /tmp folder.
But the folder was not /tmp it was a specified folder whose path i had
specified to firefox. The method is -
1. SEARCH FOR VIDEO (YOU WANT TO DOWNLOAD) IN YOUTUBE.
2. RIGHT CLICK ON VIDEO AND SELECT EDIT>PREFERENCES>DOWNLOAD
AND THEN SPECIFY THE PATH WHERE YOU WANT TO DOWNLOAD THE VIDEO.
(THIS WHOLE THE WORK YOU HAVE TO DO FOR THE FIRST TIME ONLY).
3. LET THE VIDEO COMPLETE THE BUFFERING.
4. REACH TO THE SPECIFIED LOCATION AND COPY & PASTE IT WHERE YOU WANT.
5. NOW YOU CAN RENAME IT.
After that any time you don`t need to specify path SEARCH FOR VIDEO AND
LET THE BUFFERING COMPLETE. AND YOU WILL FIND IT ON THE SAME LOCATION.

Whole the thing is that some days ago i had to format my computer due to some
critical problem, every thing i lost from my computer.
After installing Ubuntu10.10 again when i tried to specify path whole the menu
was totally changed and i could not find the option again.
This method is very fast and we don`t need specify path again & again and the
major benefits are that we can watch videos during download also &
we can download videos from any website easily.
