How to install Firefox add-on

from the https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ web page I click Install button for an add-on & I encounter this message:

"software nstallation is currently disabled. Click edit options...to enable and try again"

I cannot find where in the Firefox_Perference" dialog box to enable s/w installation.

The Firefox 1.5 UI doesn't provide this option... did you upgrade from an older version?

Yes I upgraded to Firefox 1.5.
