Firefox closing when I click certain links

Lately, my FF 1.5.0.12 started opening links to open in new tabs, in a new window. I read the forums, and found a solution, i'm not entirely happy with, but it works. But I run an online pinochle league. I have an administration menu on a server that I use. Yesterday whenever I click a link inside the menu, it now closes out my whole browser. This is very disturbing as I need to be able to access the menu and firefox is now making it impossible. Any suggestions?
