need a program that works like windows moviemaker-

Asked by Benjamin W. Roberts

I just installed ubuntu 10.10 on my e-machines m-250 net book and I love it. Only thing is that it will not record sreaming video, or sound with video. I cannot record a video for youtube or anything else. What gives? The video works on google chat, but not the audio. I have yet to find a program similar to windows movie maker, and I don't really want to run movie maker through wine.

Use this to extract streaming video from webpages (eg youtube):
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2254/

To record your desktop, the package "gtk-recordMyDesktop" is quite good.

You can also look at several video editors

* Openshot
* PiTV
* KdenLive

I don't see an open question pointed specifically at pitivi, so reassigning to ubuntu in general.
