Importing favorites

Asked by Bill Kucera

Is it possible to manually import bookmarks (favorites). I installed ubuntu on a bare disc so there were no favorites to automatically import.

I think there were some plans to do this semi-automatically at some time.

Doing it manually is a bit convoluted;
You can install firefox on windows
Import the bookmarks from explorer to firefox,
Run firefox on ubuntu then close it.
Copy the bookmarks.html file from your windows firefox profile (something like %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ xxxxxxxx .default\bookmarks.html but swapping the x's for the random numbers firefox gives you.) to your linux one (~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxx.default)
