Pradeep,
Using main Ubuntu menu Applications-> Add/Remove you will get a long list of available applications you can look into Graphics category, you can sort them by popularity column.
Some apps: Gimp, Inkscape, Scribus, Xara Xtreme, Scribus, Blender (3d animations), Qcad (cad), Qgis and Grass (Geographical Information Systems)

You can play with Wine to install Win apps under Ubuntu you can get a list of working apps: www.winehq.org
And for Adobe apps http://appdb.winehq.org/search_results.php?cx=013271970634691685804%3Abc-56dvxydi&cof=FORID%3A11&q=adobe&sa=Search#1096

You can also install Win into a virtual machine under Ubuntu, and you don't have limitation of any kind with Windows apps.
You can also clone a real working pc and import it into Ubuntu Vmware, see the free http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/ i try it and it works, Windows XP ask you a new activation code.
