lost close, minimize and maximize buttons how to get them back

Asked by Ed Toplikar

I have lost the red x (close), the up and down arrows for maximize and minimize the fire fox window. The file edit view etc are at the top of the screen. How to I get those buttons back or just restore my original view of firefox. I have tried restore settings but nothing changes

It was only for Firefox but I have apparently solved the problem. Thanks

Please tell, for others with same issue, what have you done to solve it...
or we must invalidate this question thread because it will remain solved without a valid solution in it ...

Here goes but I am new to ubuntu

I believe that I created this problem by making the Firefox screen

full screen by either hitting F11 or Full screen under view. To get this back to the original way it was I repeated this. This takes the Firefox screen and makes it half of the screen in width. Similar to a single pane allowing for another pane to be viewed. Then I clicked on "new window" under File. This opens up another Firefox window but this one has the red x the minimize and maximize buttons etc. I then close the original window that doesn't have these. From then on every time I open Firefox it's back to the way it was. I hope this helps
