PC freezes/hangs for several minutes after loggin onto Gmail

Recently, I have only experienced this event on my pc that runs Karmic and the latest version of Firefox from the repositories. After loggin onto to Gmail, the pc will freeze and is unresponsive for over a period of 10 minutes, then afterwards it becomes responsive and I can resume normal operation of the pc. I have another pc/laptop that is running Vista, and I have not experienced this phenomenon on the Vista pc. Is anyone else experiencing something similar to this?

What happens in Vista is of no value to us. It is a different OS with different support.

If you rename ~/.mozilla to then get vanilla settings, does it work ok?

You could try the mozilla ppa too. May help.
