Internet Problems

Asked by James

I have installed Ubuntu and am happy overall with the program. However I have noted a problem. When attempting to open certain web pages I click on a icon on the page, a second window opens as it is should, however it simply flashes rapidly at me and I am unable to do anything on the page. It is almost as if it attempts to open but is unable to. I'm stumped. Please help.

There are a couple of things that this can be. You can try going to the edit menu and to preferences and go to the con tent tab and see if enable java script is checked. If it is checked then you know that this isn't the issue. The next thing you can try is turning the popup blocker off and see if this helps. What you do is go to edit-preferences-content tab and uncheck block popup windows. If this doesn't work there are only two other things it can be. The site your trying to visit might be banished by Fire fox as an attack website. It would be very risky to do this but on the preferences option in the edit menu and on the security tab, you can uncheck block reported attack sites and see if that solves your problem. If all of this doesn't solve your problem, then go to Ubuntu Software center off the applications menu and install a new web browser and try this out. I am confident if you go through and do all of these things, that one will resolve the issue. Let me know if I resolved your issue!

Can you help with this problem?
