Installation of Java Runtime Enviroment for Mozilla

when opening WWW.gotomypc.com with Mozilla, a java run time ennvironment plugin is requested.
1) The plugin finder service indicates that JRE is available
2) next screen indicates JRE "not available" and requests "manual install"
3) clicking on "manual install" open java web site.......
Question: what after?
.......I have downloaded two available linux files "linux (self extracting)" and "linux RPM (self extracing)"
