can't get audio

It seems that Ubuntu is not easy to set up. The 1st problem is that I have no audio at all with this os. When I went back to XP, my audio is there. I am using wubi.exe for now untill I can get Ubuntu to work.I discovered the audio problem when I went to youtube-was instructed to upload the flash player-which version to use? also no audio playing a cd.
I am not that skilled in programming-is there a method to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

One thing is check your volume down to the right.
I had the same prob and all the time was the
volume control was turned down. Click on it
and then click on Mixer, I turn them all up.
Click on tools then add-ons then plugins there
you should see three things
Java
Shockwave Flash (This is where you get sound)
Skype Bottons for Kopete.
If you need java:
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts
To agree to their terms you have to click on F12 arrow left click
enter to continue..
Flash
sudo aptitude install gsfonts gsfonts-x11 flashplugin-nonfree
Try this you will see it works

I feel a relieved-it may sound stupid-my audio was muted on the start-up front page! it is fine now! It will take some time to get used to the function of this os!-thanks to all
